Leaving for Kenoshaを読んだ。
　二ヶ月ほど前にNewstatesman誌とのインタヴューにおいて彼はwritingとtruthとの関係についてどう考えるかと問われ、
"Just putting down everything that you think is not going to uncover the truth; what uncovers truth in something is the habit of art. It's when you think, 'I've got to make something out of this for someone else, which I will make well enough that they can make use of it.'
　When you do that, when you turn away from yourself and towards some anonymous person, then I think you have a chance of making up something that might in fact be true."
と言っていた。
　そのことがよく理解できる、よい短編だと思う。
