ブルガリア的寛容

　第三帝国がヨーロッパを震撼させていた時代、ブルガリアはデンマークと並び、ユダヤ人やロマの人々の強制収容所への移送を拒否した国として知られている。当時のAdolph-Heinz Beckerle大使がヒトラーへ送った報告には次のように書かれている（英訳）。"The mentality of the Bulgarian people lacks the ideological enlightenment which our people enjoy. Having spent their entire lives with Armenians, Greeks, and Gypsies, the Bulgarians see no harm in the Jew to justify special measures against him."
　これはブルガリアが世界に誇ってよい歴史的事実として記憶／記録されるべきことである。その精神が現在も生き続け、将来も生き続ける事を強く望む。
